Yennie Zhou (she/her), a mixed media artist based in Sacramento, transforms recycled materials and found objects into captivating sculptures and installations. Her latest work, Reclaimed, is a powerful statement on sustainability, celebrating nature’s beauty while urging reflection on our consumption and the potential of discarded materials.
Born in Vietnam and raised in China, Zhou’s perspective is deeply rooted in the resourcefulness of her rural upbringing. Her sculptures, often blending architectural forms with organic textures, invite viewers to reconsider their relationship with the environment and appreciate art’s power to inspire change.
Displaying Reclaimed at Arden Fair is a full-circle moment for Zhou. “I spent countless formative hours here, creating memories and launching creative endeavors. Now, I have the privilege of returning with an installation that speaks to a cause deeply important to me: sustainability and protecting our environment,” she reflects.
Zhou’s work has been featured throughout California, including Burning Man, as she continues to explore the intersection of memory, material, and emotion.
